Medical Billing Specialist

Full-Time Opening

Summary

The primary responsibility of the Medical Billing Specialist is the billing and collection for services provided through the Article 16 Horizons Clinic.  This will include private insurance, Medicare and Medicaid and subsequent coordination of benefits.  Knowledge of HIPPA regulations, as well as, knowledge of the processes associated with the billing of government agencies is a requirement.  Knowledge of medical billing procedures and Microsoft office applications is necessary.

 

Qualifications

The position requires excellent communication skills to develop strong, positive and professional working relationships with Providers, agency Directors, agency staff, departmental staff and related government agencies.  Additionally, the incumbent should possess strong accounting and organizational skills to effectively manage and maintain systems and processes associated with the position. Maintain strict adherence to regulatory requirements and agency policies and procedures.

Knowledge of basic accounting principles, as well as, the ability to work in Mas90, is a requirement.  Knowledge of Excel spreadsheets is also essential.

 

Responsibilities

The ability to submit billing through an Electronic Data Interface or a Web Based system is required.

Additional responsibilities will include the following:

Management of the appeal and denial process and subsequent follow up.

Maintenance of all billing related documentation to insure accuracy of billing in strict compliance with Corporate Compliance policies, agency Policies & Procedures, and departmental Policies & Procedures. Medicaid Waiver billing and other accounting responsibilities as assigned and/or required.  Coordination with other finance staff for proper financial reporting of billing and cash receipts.

Reporting as assigned to meet the requirements of Corporate Compliance or agency needs.

 Administrative and clerical responsibilities as needed to include copying and filing. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

The position reports directly to the Director of Finance.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Finance or Accounting with two years of medical billing and accounting experience or High School Diploma with 5 years relevant experience.
  • Computer, administrative and communications skills to fulfill position requirements.
  • Combination of education and experience which, in the judgment of the employer, equals above standards.
