Speech Pathologist 

Parkside Children's Center

Full-Time Opening

The Speech Pathologist will generate Prescriptions for any students who have been approved for Speech and Language Therapy through CPSE and have enrolled in the Parkside Children's Center Preschool Program. The Speech Language Therapist will provide therapy sessions as specified on the IEP and complete required documentation. The Speech Language Pathologist will assess and evaluate students' progress with identified goals, complete required Progress Monitoring, and generate information to be included in Annual Review Reports. The Speech Language Pathologist will develop recommendations regarding Speech and Language needs, including any recommendations for changes to the IEP, and will participate in CPSE Meetings, as assigned. The Speech Pathologist provides information and guidance to families and Parkside staff to support and facilitate goals, including collaboration with Teachers and other clinicians to develop appropriate accommodations within the classroom. The Speech Language Pathologist will also provide required supervision for any Speech Therapist working within the Parkside Preschool Program.

Requirements

1. Generate Prescriptions for Speech and Language Therapy for students who have been approved for this service through CPSE and have enrolled in the Parkside Preschool Program

2. Provide Speech and Language Therapy to Parkside students as specified on the IEP

3. Document treatment and assessment, through progress monitoring and annual reviews, in accordance with established policies and procedures.

4. Develop recommendations regarding Speech and Language needs, including any recommendations for changes to the IEP

5. Participate in CPSE Meetings, as assigned

6. Participate in Professional Development activities to maintain state-of-the-art skills

7. Participate in Staff Meetings, Team Meetings, and Parent Conferences, as assigned

8. Provide information to families and Parkside Staff to support Speech and Language Goals

9. Provide professional supervision for Speech Therapists working within the Parkside Preschool Program.

10. Maintain job-required Licensure and provide HR Department with valid License

11. Support the Goals and Mission of Arc of Onondaga. Ensures that communications and personal performance reflect the Agency's commitment to teamwork, compliance with policies and procedures and respect for children, families, and colleagues.

12. Demonstrate Computer skills that are required to fulfill job responsibilities and assignments.

13. Provides other job-related support and services as required or assigned by Program Director.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Masters degree in Speech Pathology.
  • Valid NYS license as a Speech Pathologist
  • Preferred understanding of CPSE process
  • Preferred 2 years of related professional preschool experience.
  • Combination of education and experience which, in the judgement of the employer, equals above standards.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

Work requires minor physical exertion with incidental or no adverse environmental conditions. The need for physical stamina, endurance, and physical manipulation are limited. Body movement usually involves sitting and intermittent walking and standing.
