Teacher Aide

Parkside Children's Center

The Teacher Aide is to assist the Teachers and Teacher Assistant in all daily activities, events and routines within the classroom.  The Teacher Aide may be required to work as a 1:1 aide for an individual child per the child's IEP or provide individual support for student(s) as assigned by teachers.

Requirements

  • Assists in supporting Learning Objectives and individual goals for students in the assigned classroom and provides individual support to students as assigned by teachers
  • Assists in the preparation of materials required to carry out the weekly plan of activities.
  • Assists the Teachers and Teacher Assistant in small group instruction.
  • Attend and participate in parent conferences and team meetings as assigned.
  • Assists in the daily operations of the classroom by providing any needed assistance to children such as toileting, eating, dressing, etc.
  • Provides supervision for all assigned children at all times.
  • Assists in the general maintenance of supplies and the classroom environment, performing housekeeping duties, ordering supplies, etc., as needed.
  • Supports the Goals and Mission of Arc of Onondaga. Ensures that your communications and personal performance reflect the Agency's commitment to teamwork, compliance with policies and procedures and respect for consumers and staff.
  • Computer and office technology skills that are required to fulfill job responsibilities and assignments.
  • Attends and participates in required agency and department meetings, staff development activities and training programs.
  • Establishes and provides clear and legible documentation and compliance records required by Arc and other government agencies.
  • Provides other job-related support and services as required or assigned by management.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred knowledge of early childhood development and experience with infant/toddlers and/or
  • Combination of education and experience which, in the judgement of the employer, equals above standards.
