Support Teacher

Parkside Children's Center - Full-Time Opening


The Support Teacher will demonstrate a thorough understanding of best practice in Early Education and will work with Teams to ensure a safe, nurturing, engaging learning environment. The Support Teacher will collaborate with Teams to develop learning objectives, lesson plans, and modifications for preschoolers with a disability.  The Support Teacher will work with the Classroom Team to ensure effective implementation of the curriculum, including CKLA, Pre-K Math Modules, and Second Step. The Support Teacher will assist Teachers with progress monitoring, completion of student assessments, and analysis of data to drive instruction.  The Support Teacher will collaborate with Teams in developing and implementing Individual Support Plans for students, in response to Social-Emotional needs. The Support Teacher will conduct Observations, including Child-Specific Observations, and provide feedback to Teams, to support best practice and individual goals. In the event of short-term and long-term Teacher absences, the Support Teacher will provide coverage, within classrooms, as needed/as assigned to ensure safety, high-quality programming and compliance with required staffing patterns. Reports to the Director of Parkside Children's Center.


  1. Provide support to Teams to ensure a safe, nurturing learning environment
  2. Collaborate with Program Director and Teams to support Best Practice in Early Education
  3. Provide support to Teams in developing Learning Objectives and Lesson Plans
  4. Provide support to teams in effectively implementing all curriculum components
  5. Support Teachers in Progress Monitoring , completion of Student Assessments, and analysis of data
  6. Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, including NYSED regulations, OCFS regulations, and SCSD/UPK Contractual requirements
  7. Supports the Team in developing Individual Support Plans, in response to identified Social-Emotional needs
  8. In the event of short-term and/or long-term teacher absences, provides coverage, as needed/as assigned to ensure safety, high-quality programming and compliance with required staffing patterns.
  9. Completes all required paperwork and documentation in an efficient and timely manner.
  10. Maintains ongoing communication with families and participates in Parent-Teacher conferences and/or CPSE/CSE Meetings, as needed/requested
  11. Supports the Goals and Mission of Arc of Onondaga. Ensures that communications and personal performance reflect the Agency's commitment to quality, compliance with policies and procedures and respect for children, families, and staff.
  12. Computer and office technology skills that are required to fulfill job responsibilities and assignments.
  13. Attends and participates in required Team Meetings and Staff Meetings. Participates in all required Trainings and Professional Development activities as assigned by the Program Director
  14. Maintains accurate documentation and records, as required by Arc of Onondaga and regulatory agencies.
  15. Provides other job-related support and services as required or assigned by the Program Director.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Education and valid NY State Teacher Certificate: Early Education: Birth-Grade 2 or Pre-K Grade 6 or Students with Disabilities: Birth-Grade 2. Dual Teacher Certification preferred. Candidates with an approved Plan of Study leading to required Teacher Certification may be considered.
  • 3-5 years of work experience in an Integrated Preschool program.
  • 3-5 years of Supervisory / Leadership Experience preferred
  • Extensive Knowledge of Early Childhood development and Best Practice in Early Education
