Director of Monarch

Full-time Position

The Director of Monarch Enterprises is responsible to plan, coordinate and manage all aspects of the business enterprises of the Agency.  The incumbent serves as a member of the senior management team and supports the Executive Director in fulfilling overall Agency goals and objectives. Ensures that meaningful and productive work opportunities are provided to individuals with disabilities through continuance, development or creation of business ventures that are profitable and meaningful to the mission of the agency.    

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for business enterprise functions including supervision of day-to-day operations.
  2. Researches, identifies and develops profitable business ventures; maintains quality of contracts; responsible for contract administration for state, federal and commercial accounts.
  3. Maintains compliance with use of the 14c certificate/prevailing wage rate in compliance with NYS DOL regulations and manage the certification process.
  4. Provides the Board with reports and information regarding Monarch's contracts, policies and procedures.
  5. Serves as one of the Agency's chief representatives for communications related to Monarch Enterprise operations with Source America, NYSID and community partners. .
  6. Ensures that all Monarch training and development services comply with Source America, NYSID, Local, State and Federal statutory requirements and guidelines for providing work to people with developmental disabilities.
  7. Exhibits resourceful, interpersonal, negotiation and communications (written and oral) skills to handle complex and/or sensitive policy issues and problems with diverse people both inside and outside of the organization.
  8. Manages and supervises departments and provides training for staff responsible for Monarch operations.
  9. Establishes business relationships to promote Monarch Enterprise.
  10. Directs the development of creative and innovative work opportunities to promote Monarch Enterprise services and job placement for competitive employment opportunities.
  11. Works closely with the Director of Employment Options to link contract work opportunities and people we support with competitive work placements.
  12. Manages work activity, ensuring safe operating environments for all contract workers..
  13. Supports the Goals and Mission of Arc of Onondaga County. Ensures that your communications and personal performance reflect the Agency's commitment to teamwork, compliance with policies and procedures and respect for people we support and staff.
  14. Exhibits computer and office technology expertise that is required to fulfill job responsibilities and assignments.
  15. Attends and participates in required Arc meetings, staff development and training programs.
  16. Establishes and provides clear and legible documentation and compliance records required by Arc and other government agencies.
  17. Provides other job-related support and services as required or assigned by management.

Note Requirements 1 - 16 are Essential Job Requirements

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in a related area.
  • Five to ten years of experience in a related field, including demonstrated evidence of previous supervision and budgeting.
  • Combination of education and experience that, in the judgement of the employer, equals above standards.
