Substitute Teacher

Parkside Children's Program

Substitute Teachers will demonstrate an understanding of best practice in Inclusive Early Education and will provide support to Teams to ensure a safe, nurturing, engaging learning environment. Substitute Teachers will work with Teams to implement lesson plans and modifications for preschoolers with a disability.  In the event of  teacher absences, Substitute Teachers will provide coverage within classrooms, as assigned, to ensure safety, high-quality programming and compliance with required staffing patterns. .


  1. Provides support to Teams to ensure a safe, nurturing learning environment
  2. Demonstrates a general understanding of all curriculum components
  3. Provides support to Teams in implementing the weekly Lesson Plan
  4. Communicates with families, as needed and in alignment with the Family Support & Engagement Plan
  5. Complies with all regulatory requirements, including NYSED and OCFS regulations
  6. Supports the Goals and Mission of Arc of Onondaga.
  7. Demonstrates computer and office technology skills that are required to fulfill job responsibilities
  8. Participates in all required Trainings as assigned by the Program Director
  9. Maintains accurate documentation and records, as required by Arc of Onondaga and regulatory agencies.
  10. Provides other job-related support and services as required or assigned by the Program Director.


Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Early Education, Special Education or related field
  • 1-3 years of work experience in an Integrated Preschool program
